About me

Timothy DeKlotz, MD, is a board-certified otolaryngologist and associate professor at Georgetown University School of Medicine. He is a member of the North American Skull Base Society (NASBS) and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Foundation (AAO-HNSF).

Dr. DeKlotz specializes in diagnosing and treating skull base disorders such as spinal fluid leaks, pituitary tumors, benign and malignant tumors of the nose/sinus and brain in a minimally invasive way through the use of endoscopic procedures. He also specializes in cancers of the head and neck and sinus disorders.

Dr. DeKlotz received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his internship program and residency program at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. He then finished his fellowship program in open and endoscopic cranial base surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

His clinical interests include endoscopic skull base disorders, cancers of the head and neck, and nasal and sinus disorders. His research interests include outcomes for patients with skull base disorders.

Dr. DeKlotz is part of one of the few skull base teams in the region that performs advanced endonasal skull base procedures utilizing state-of-the-art technology and instrumentation. Through these newer techniques, Dr. DeKlotz and his team are able to improve outcomes and significantly decrease recovery time for their patients.

"Treating every patient the same way does not produce results. My philosophy is to individualize treatment and give personalized care that is as unique as each one of my patients. Keeping an algorithm to patient care is important, but tailoring treatment to the patient is critical.

It is important to me that my patients are well informed and that I answer all of their questions. I am dedicated to listening to my patients and ensuring that I answer all of their questions as well as address all of their concerns."

Excellent experience as doctor listened well, was clear with what needed to be done and described clearly the procedure. Very pleased with the interaction.

DeKlotz saved my life what more can I say.

    • May 21, 2026

Dr. DeKlotz is low-key and that approach helps me to feel more calm. He is an excellent clinician, both in terms of the precision he uses in asking questions, the economy he uses in answering questions, and in terms of clinical skills. I feel fortunate to have him as part of my healthcare team.
