Message from the Chairman and Program Director of Urology Residency
Our four year, ACGME-accredited, Urology Residency Program continues its longstanding tradition of training and educating residents in all aspects of urology, providing a breadth of clinical experience, mentorship from interested faculty and exposure to a variety of healthcare systems. Our goals are to teach quality and compassionate clinical care, provide exposure to clinical research and to stimulate an interest in the lifelong learning required of all of us. We are able to do this through stable, interested and well-trained faculty. The relationship between faculty and residents has been and continues to be one of our strengths.
Rotations at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, MedStar Washington Hospital Center, Washington DC VA Medical Center, Children’s National Health System and the National Institutes of Health provide exposure to different health systems, with each site having multiple full-time faculty. The faculty and residents gather together for weekly conferences at Georgetown that provide the academic core of the program. In addition, each site has its own supplemental conference schedule. Mock oral boards, Jeopardy contests, and the endowed Maxted visiting lectureship provide additional opportunities for learning. We also have a dedicated research meeting, and residents are expected to complete projects and submit presentations to regional and national American Urological Association meetings.
We are interested in resident applicants who have the intellect required to succeed in urology, as well as the drive, determination and compassion to provide quality care as part of a team approach. I can assure you that our program will provide you with strong and balanced clinical training that will allow you to provide all aspects of urologic care.

Good luck and thank you for your interest in MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's Urology Residency Program.
