Georgetown & Virginia Hospital Center/Inpatient
Stavros Doumas, MD
Athens Medical School
Stavros Doumas is our Inpatient Chief Resident at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. He was born and grew up in Brussels and repatriated to Athens at age 18 to pursue his passion for medicine. He graduated from Athens Medical School and subsequently enrolled in postgraduate studies, completing a M.Sc. in molecular biomedicine and pursuing a Ph.D. in translational immunology. He then moved to the U.S. to complete his Internal medicine residency at Georgetown, where he received the Proctor Harvey MD award for intern of the year, Michael Adams MD, and the Dudley P. Jackson, MD awards for demonstrating intelligence, dedication to teaching, perseverance, and commitment to the field of medicine. His interests revolve around the immune system’s interaction with the gut and liver, and he intends to pursue a career in academic gastroenterology. Outside of medicine, he likes reading, exercising, listening to music, and taking long walks with his wife!
Kevin Liu, MD
Yale School of Medicine
Kevin Liu is our Inpatient Chief Resident at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and serves as an attending physician at both one of the ambulatory sites and the Washington DC Veterans Affairs Hospital inpatient service. Kevin is originally from NJ, went to Columbia University for his undergraduate studies in Biology and English, took a research year at the Vaccine Research Center at the NIH working in molecular and structural biology, and went to the Yale School of Medicine where he completed his MD thesis on cardiac allograft vasculopathy in post-cardiac transplant patients. He is passionate about cardiology especially cardiac critical care, advanced heart failure, and imaging. Outside of medicine he enjoys the outdoors (cycling, hiking, and walking his puppy!) and indulging in specialty coffee (sources beans, roasts, grinds, and prepares espresso and pour-over).

He graduated undergrad from the University of Notre Dame and medical school from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He is planning to pursue a career in academic cardiology with interests in heart rhythms and advanced heart failure. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and dog, traveling, playing tennis, cheering for Notre Dame, watching just about any sport, and trying out new restaurants.

Luke Lawrence, MD
Drexel University College of Medicine
Matthew Moore, MD
Tulane University School of Medicine
I am originally from a small town in northern Mississippi, just across the border from Memphis, TN. I double majored in Cell Biology and English at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA, and briefly worked in a basic science lab as a research technician before pursuing my medical degree at Tulane School of Medicine. After nearly a decade of Mardi Gras parades, Creole/Cajun delights, and the occasional hurricane, I decided to trade one swamp for another by moving to Washington, DC for residency. I plan on pursuing hospital medicine after finishing my year at the DC VA. On days they allow me to leave the VA-Spa, I like to play golf, volleyball, tennis, hike, and practice my dance moves at the Georgetown Waterfront.
