Deborah L . Pazourek

Deborah Pazourek joined MedStar Health in 2011 as vice president of Internal Audit, leading internal audit initiatives supporting financial, compliance, information technology, and business operations across MedStar Health’s 10 hospitals and more than 300 outpatient care sites.

Prior to MedStar Health, Pazourek was the chief audit executive for Crowe LLP (formerly CHAN Healthcare Auditors), where she managed the internal audit function that included performing the risk assessment, developing and executing the audit plan, communicating results, and conducting follow-up for multiple clients. She began her accounting/auditing career at KPMG.

Pazourek received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Loyola University Maryland with honors, summa cum laude, and earned her Master of Business Administration from Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School with honors, summa cum laude. 

Pazourek is a member of the Association of Healthcare Internal Auditors, the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), and the Healthcare Financial Management Association. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the IIA Baltimore Chapter and the Loyola University Maryland Accounting Advisory Board. Pazourek is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Healthcare Financial Professional, Certified Internal Controls Auditor, Certification in Risk Management Assurance, and Certified Healthcare Internal Audit Professional with certifications in Six Sigma.
