About the Provider

Amy Lee, MD, is a general obstetrician/gynecologist at MedStar Washington Hospital Center with office locations in the Women’s Community Health Practice, the Fibroid Center, and the Lafayette Center. She is a member of the American Medical Association (AMA) and the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).

Dr. Lee treats general gynecological conditions, including abnormal uterine bleeding, fibroids, chronic pelvic pain, and postmenopausal bleeding, as well as the initiation and management of several forms of contraception, including Nexplanon and IUD placement. She also manages a wide range of pregnancies spanning from the uncomplicated to those complicated by problems such as previous cesarean sections, diabetes, hypertension, and multigestations. Additionally, she performs a wide range of procedures and surgeries, including hysteroscopy, dilation and curettage (D&C), myomectomy, ovarian cystectomy, tubal ligations, and vaginal hysterectomy via vaginal, laparoscopic, abdominal routes, and more.

In addition to her clinical interests in general gynecology and obstetrics, Dr. Lee is also interested in academic medicine. She is Associate Medical Student Clerkship Director for the Georgetown University Medical School students rotating at Washington Hospital Center for their third year OB/GYN clerkship. In this role, she leads weekly lectures and mentors students in the outpatient and inpatient settings. She is also involved in the training of residents by supervising the resident clinic.

Dr. Lee received her medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences after completing a masters program in physiology from Georgetown University. She then completed four years of specialty residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, affiliated with Medstar Georgetown University Hospital.

The field of obstetrics and gynecology is constantly developing. Topics such as understanding labor, how to prevent primary c-sections, how to manage hypertensive diseases in pregnancy, and how to treat fibroids are just a few of the conditions where information continues to evolve. Dr. Lee is passionate about bringing cutting-edge technologies that facilitate women’s health care and improve quality of care to MedStar Washington Hospital Center.
