About me

Dr. Knolmayer is the Chief of Orthopaedics at our MedStar Montgomery Medical Center location. He is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in joint replacement and sports medicine, but also performs other general orthopaedic surgeries. He attended Cornell University as an undergraduate, graduating with distinction, and attended Georgetown University Medical School, graduating cum laude. He completed his orthopaedic residency at Georgetown Hospital in 1997.

Dr. Knolmayer started in private practice in 1997 and joined Medstar Georgetown Orthopaedics in February 2011. He has participated on numerous committees at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center and has also served as Chairman of the Department of Surgery in the past. Dr. Knolmayer has also served the community as team doctor for Watkins Mill High School football team from 1997-2010.  He also has been voted a Top Doc in the Washingtonian and Bethesda magazines.

    The best bedside manners and knowledgeable about how to inform of the health matter but sincere concern and options are provided always. It is about the client and he does not rush. Listens and explains in detail all that applies to the conditions.
