General surgeon Chaitanya “Chait” Vadlamudi, MD, MBA recently joined MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center, where he is based full time, performing surgeries, emergency department consults, and office follow-up visits in the adjacent professional office building. He is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery and is a member of several associations, including the Americas Hernia Society, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Vadlamudi’s expertise spans the gamut of leading-edge general surgery techniques, including specialization in open abdominal surgeries as well as minimally invasive surgical procedures, including laparoscopic surgery, robotic-assisted surgery with MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center’s da Vinci surgical system, and endoscopic procedures that don’t require incisions, such as the transoral incisionless fundoplication (TIF) procedure.
Philosophy of Care:
“It’s an amazing privilege to be able to provide surgical care for my patients. Earning their trust, often while distressed, suffering, confused, and concerned, all in a short amount of time, is paramount to everything I do. Developing a relationship with my patients is something that I take seriously, and I understand that each patient is different. Having been fortunate enough to train in and practice a variety of modalities including open, laparoscopic, robotic, and endoscopic surgery allows me to design a tailored approach to each patient’s needs, with lower morbidity and shorter recovery times. If I do come across something outside my scope of care, I consider it my responsibility to then make sure they get to the appropriate physician or level of care needed.”
