Ishita Arya Gambhir, MD, is a board-certified neurologist at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital specializing in movement disorders. Her areas of expertise and interest include Parkinson's Disease, Atypical Parkinsonisms, deep brain stimulator programming, essential tremor and other forms of tremor and tics/Tourette's Syndrome. Dr. Gambhir also performs botulinum toxin injections for dystonia, spasticity, sialorrhea and facial nerve disorders (hemifacial spasm, blepharospasm). She sees patients at Georgetown and also at satellite offices in Chevy Chase, MD and Mclean, VA.
Dr. Gambhir developed a particular interest for movement disorders during her neurology residency and has a special focus on working with patients and their families to formulate a comprehensive treatment plan. She believes that the management of a neurological condition is not just limited to medications, but rather requires a multi-modal approach to improve quality of life. Dr. Gambhir is a long-time resident of the D.C .Metropolitan area since moving here from Sydney, Australia. She lives in Northern Virginia with her husband and daughter and enjoys spending time with her large extended family and friends.
