Maoyin Pang, MD, PhD, is a gastroenterologist at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine. Prior to joining MedStar Georgetown, he held academic appointment as Assistant Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Pang has a solid foundation in both clinical work and scientific research. He obtained his medical degree and PhD degree in China, and extended his training with postdoctoral research at Brown University, internal medicine residency at Boston University School of Medicine/Roger Williams Medical Center, and gastroenterology fellowship at Mayo Clinic. He is a member of American Gastroenterology Association and the American College of Gastroenterology.
The spectrum of Dr. Pang’s care include common digestive conditions and preventive care particularly colorectal cancer screening, remove precancerous and early cancer lesions. In addition to general gastroenterology, Dr. Pang has special interests in esophageal diseases, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease, swallowing disorders and Barret’s esophagus. He has presented his research at national meetings and has been published in peer-reviewed journals in gastroenterology. He has been honored several awards for his excellence in patient care, education and research.
Dr. Pang believes that every patient is a unique human being and communication is a cornerstone in healthcare. He focuses on providing individualized and compassionate care using patient education to inform shared decision making. Dr. Pang works closely with a multidisciplinary team to meet the maximum needs of every patient.
Dr. Pang speaks English and Mandarin Chinese. Beyond his passion in medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family, running and hiking. He also enjoys cooking in his spare time.
