About the Provider

Megan Jamison, MD, is an attending dermatologist at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. Dr. Jamison treats simple to complex diseases of the skin by applying evidence-based treatments that take her patients’ goals into account. As skin disease can oftentimes be a manifestation of a systemic condition, Dr. Jamison often collaborates with physicians from other specialties as part of her practice. She forms part of a team of caregivers at MedStar that is dedicated to providing a multidisciplinary approach to healthcare, aimed at providing the best, high quality care for patients.

Her clinical interests include the management and diagnosis of skin cancer, including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma. She is also passionate about women’s dermatology, including genital dermatology. Her research interests include medical education. A large part of Dr. Jamison’s practice includes education of residents and medical students in training.

Dr. Jamison received her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine, where she graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha society. She then joined George Washington University Hospital for her intern year before completing a four-year residency with the Department of Dermatology at Medstar Georgetown/Washington Hospital Center, where she acted as Executive Chief Resident. During her residency training she received the String of Pearls award for her dedication to teaching medical students in training.

Dr. Jamison is interested in exploring the efficacy of and implementing new, state-of-the-art treatments, such as platelet-rich plasma therapy for the treatment of a variety of skin diseases and immunotherapies for melanoma. When not seeing patients, Dr. Jamison often finds herself discussing medical topics with her husband, who is also a physician, and exploring Washington, DC, with her husband and son.

Philosophy of Care

“Patient care is my number one priority. Skin disease can have a dramatic impact on someone’s life. For this reason, I involve my patients in designing the most effective, scientifically sound treatment, and also the most appropriate treatment for them.”
