Rafique Ahmed, MD, a cardiac electrophysiologist, is board certified in cardiac electrophysiology, cardiovascular disease and internal medicine, and is a fellow of the American Society of Cardiology. Dr. Ahmed treats people with heart-rhythm disorders or arrhythmias congestive heart failure, and syncope, a temporary loss of consciousness caused by a fall in blood pressure.
Dr. Ahmed has a "patient-first" philosophy, treating all patients with compassion and kindness, as if they were family. He believes strongly in the early detection and treatment of heart disease, as these can mean a longer, fuller and more active life for his patients. Dr. Ahmed encourages management of 'controllable' risk factors such as weight, diet, activity level and smoking which are crucial to good heart health. He also stresses the importance of recognizing the symptoms of heart disease. Dr. Ahmed cautions his patients to take chest pain seriously and seek care immediately.
Dr. Ahmed is encouraged by the technological and treatment advancements in cardiac electrophysiology, which allow him to diagnose and treat heart problems as never before. His participation in numerous clinical trials enables him to help bring new, life-changing treatments to his patients. Dr. Ahmed has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Cardiology, British Heart Journal and the American Heart Journal.
He attended medical school in India and completed residency programs in England and Japan, continuing his specialty training in the United States. A native of Bangladesh, Dr. Ahmed is proud of his work to bring electrophysiology services to India.
