About the Provider

Rajesh K. Malik, MD, RPVI, is a highly experienced vascular surgeon who has built a reputation of excellent outcomes and results. He is Associate Professor of Surgery at Georgetown University Hospital, a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) and a founding member of the South Asian American Vascular Society (SAAVS).

At MedStar Washington Hospital Center, Dr. Malik offers advanced therapy for arterial and venous disease. Dr. Malik is passionate about providing multi-specialty teams for treatment in order to achieve long-term outcomes. He is an advocate of academic medicine, and for this, he is passionate about training residents and fellows in order to build a legacy of excellent care, so that patients now and in the future have good options for care.

Dr. Malik specializes in treating aortic diseases such as aortic dissection, and peripheral arterial disease (PAD) through the use of minimally invasive (endovascular) and open surgical techniques. His clinical interests include understanding the pathogenesis of peripheral arterial disease as well as aortic pathology and how these conditions can be corrected. He is currently involved in research analyzing clinical data for patients that have an aortic disease and understanding their outcomes as well as analyzing data for patients with PAD and understanding their outcomes based on specific types of presentation.

Dr. Malik received his medical degree from New York Medical College, where he graduated in the top 5% of his class, earning him a membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He then completed his residency training at the prestigious NYU Langone Medical Center and his fellowship training at Mount Sinai Hospital. He was on the faculty at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City for 3 years before joining the MedStar Washington Hospital Center.
