About the Provider

Dr. Wittstadt is an orthopaedic surgeon, fellowship trained in hand surgery. He began his career as a nurse, then became a certified nurse practitioner and physician assistant. He earned a master's degree in public health at Johns Hopkins and his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, graduating cum laude. He completed his orthopedic residency at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital and a hand fellowship at the Curtis National Hand Center. His practice includes the entire upper extremity and its full spectrum of problems.
Dr. Wittstadt is a clinical instructor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He is an attending hand surgeon and consultant at the Hand Center and is actively involved in the direct surgical education of residents and fellows, lectures, and research. He coordinates the year-long didactic lecture series and heads the Performing Arts Medicine Clinic. He is certified as a specialist in Performing Arts Medicine. He serves on several committees with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) including the Orthopaedics In-Training Exam (OITE), self-assessment examination (SAE), and Evidence-Based Medicine committees.
Dr. Wittstadt was named a Baltimore magazine Top Doctor in 2020.
