About the Provider

Dr. Sami Tannouri grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park. He received his Master’s Degree from Georgetown University. He obtained his medical degree at Penn State Hershey College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania. He completed his surgical residency training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and he completed his Minimally Invasive and Advanced Gastrointestinal Surgery Fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Dr. Tannouri is an active member of the American College of Surgeons along with The Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons. He has received several awards for teaching through his journey of becoming a physician, his most recent award was 32nd Annual Goracci Award from The Department of Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University for excellence in teaching as a chief resident. He continues to teach and train within the Medstar General Surgery Residency.

Dr. Tannouri has been evolving in healthcare since 2003 when his journey began and is now a great addition to MedStar Surgical Specialist Team.
