About the Provider

Dr. Bead has extensive experience in the following areas of clinical cardiology: preventive care, the use of nuclear imaging techniques for testing of heart functioning, stress echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, cardiac catheterization, and electrocardiogram and echocardiogram interpretation. He is Level II trained in nuclear cardiology and echocardiography.
Dr. Bead works closely with referring physicians to prevent, diagnose and treat cardiovascular issues. He maintains ongoing relationships with referring physicians, ensuring that referring physicians understand a patient's cardiac risks and outcomes and the overall plan for patient care.
Dr. Bead has been invited to lecture on general cardiology and preventive cardiology at medical conferences as well as local and state meetings. His presentation "Racial disparities in response to angiotensin-converting-enzyme inhibitor (ACE) inhibitors and beta-blockers in patients with congestive heart failure" received an award from the American College of Physicians. His research has been published in medical journals such as Heart and The Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation.
Through the MedStar Research Institute, Dr. Bead serves as lead investigator and co-investigator on several clinical trials investigating the efficacy and side effects of investigational cardiovascular drugs.
Dr. Bead stresses patient-doctor communication. Each patient is advised of multiple ways of communicating with him via email and through a telephone number dedicated to physician and patient calls.
