- Structural Heart Disease
Zuyue Wang, MD, is Director of echocardiography laboratory and Director of Structural and Interventional Echocardiography at MedStar Heart and Vascular Institute (MHVI) at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington DC in the United State of America. Dr. Wang is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine.
As a specialist in the field of cardiovascular disease and advanced echocardiography imaging, Dr. Wang is a key echocardiographer of the structural heart disease team and provides pre-procedural planning, intra-procedural monitoring and guidance, and post procedural assessment for transcathetr and surgical intervention in patients with complex valvular diseases, aortic dissection, infective endocarditis, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and left ventricular assist devices. She has performed more than 8000 TEEs and interprets more than 50,000 TTEs. Dr. Wang is a most sought-after echocardiographer by interventionists, cardiac surgeons, electrophysiologists and heart failure specialists in the MHVI. She also provides imaging consultation for the referring cardiologists in the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia area. In the cardiac intensive care unit, she leads a multidisciplinary team that provides comprehensive, collaborative care to critically ill patients with severe cardiovascular disease
In addition to her clinical responsibilities, she oversees education of the cardiology fellows in the echocardiography laboratory and serves as Program Director for advance echocardiography fellowship. She has twice been the recipient of a Joseph Lindsay Teaching Award bestowed by the MWHC cardiology fellows in recognition of her outstanding commitment to education and service in cardiology. SH has trained many international advanced imaging fellows from Europa and Asia.
Dr. Wang is frequently invited to speak at national and international meetings. Dr. Wang participates as a co-investigator, specializing in echocardiography, in multiple clinical trials focused on percutaneous aortic valve replacement and mitral valve repair. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography and the American Journal of Cardiology.
She is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and of the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), and she was a council member on ASE’s education committee. In addition, she is the director of the Capital Area Echocardiography Society. Dr. Wang is certified by the American Board of Cardiology and the National Board of Echocardiography.
Dr Wang received her medical degree from the Shanghai Medical University /Fudan University, and she completed a cardiology fellowship at the Shanghai Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Research and Training in Cardiovascular Diseases at Zhongshan Hospital, Shanghai Medical University. She then came to USA and completed a residency and fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at Georgetown University/MWHC.
