Interventional Radiology Residency Program at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital
The Vascular and Interventional Radiology Division at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is proud to be one of the first programs in the country to receive ACGME approval for an Interventional Radiology Residency. The integrated residency program, approved for 2 spots annually, is anticipated to match its first residents in 2017.
The IR residency at Georgetown includes a designated preliminary surgical year at Medstar Washington Hospital Center followed by 3 years of diagnostic radiology at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital. The final two years of the residency will be spent in interventional radiology at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital and its affiliates and in IR related rotations including ICU, hepatology and oncology. The program includes rotations focused on peripheral arterial interventions, aortic interventions, trauma interventions and general interventional radiology at the Washington Hospital Center and a rotation in outpatient IR, including dialysis management and varicose vein treatment.
Our faculty includes national leaders in uterine embolization, TACE, radioembolizaiton, portal venous interventions and peripheral arterial disease, and the program is designed to ensure training in the full range of interventional radiology practice, with extensive procedural, clinical and consultative experience.
