Dr. Christopher Haas

Associate Program Director
Associate Professor 

Dr. Christopher Haas is an Associate Program Director, Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine, and Research Director for the MedStar Health Internal Medicine Program. He grew up in New York City and attended Boston College for his undergraduate studies where he took his first foray into the research world at Tufts University Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences. Following completion of his B.S. in Biology, he did research at Columbia University Medical Center. He subsequently completed a dual M.D. / Ph.D. degree at Drexel University College of Medicine and transitioned to Internal Medicine Residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital's Osler Internal Medicine Residency Program.

Following completion of his residency he was hired as Academic Faculty/ Academic Hospitalist at MedStar and ultimately transitioned to full-time faculty as of July 2020. He currently attends on clinical service at MedStar Franklin Square and MedStar Harbor Hospital, working directly with house staff. He is extensively involved in resident research and is currently the Director of Research for the residency program. He loves high-value, evidence based medicine, and clinical teaching. As a former Oslerian, he strives for his residents to understand the pathophysiology behind each disease and consider each laboratory and diagnostic study in the care of patients on the medicine ward.

When not in the hospital he can usually be found with his wife, daughter, and dogs picnicking in Sherwood Gardens (a little known Baltimore gem) or hiking.

Heather Hartman-Hall

Heather Hartman-Hall, PhD

Associate Program Director
Director of Residency Wellbeing and Behavioral Health Education for the MedStar Health Internal Medicine residency program in Baltimore

Heather Hartman-Hall, PhD is an Associate Program Director and the Director of Residency Wellbeing and Behavioral Health Education for the MedStar Health Internal Medicine residency program in Baltimore. She serves as the Chair of the MedStar Health GME Wellbeing Committee and directs the systemwide Wellness Champions program. Dr. Hartman-Hall earned her PhD in clinical psychology from American University in Washington, D.C., and completed the APA-accredited psychology internship at Springfield Hospital Center. Her areas of expertise include occupational stress, psychological trauma, mood disorders, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness. She precepts primary care behavioral health clinics at MUMH and MFSMC.  Dr. Hartman-Hall is active in research as well as mentoring resident and student scholarly work about well-being in healthcare as well as behavioral health topics/quality improvement projects. 

Nioofar Jalay

Dr. Niloo Jalaly

Associate Program Director

Dr. Niloo Jalaly is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Georgetown University as well as Associate Program Director and Chair of the Clinical Competency Committee for the Medstar Health Internal Medicine residency program. She completed her medical education at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Iran. Seeking further career advancement, she worked for two years as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Gastroenterology at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Subsequently, she completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Medstar Health.

Upon completing her residency, Dr. Jalaly joined the academic faculty at Medstar Health working in the Heart Failure Unit at Union Memorial Hospital. Her current role involves teaching and guiding residents using evidence-based methods, particularly in the fields of heart failure and cardiology. She actively engages in research projects and is involved in remediation and mentoring as part of the Clinical Competency Committee. She is also a member of the Program Evaluation Committee, Curriculum Committee, and Ethics Committee. In addition to her clinical and academic responsibilities, Dr. Jalaly collaborates closely with nursing leadership in the Heart Failure Unit to drive quality improvement projects.

In her free time, Dr. Jalaly enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and their dog. She enjoys cooking authentic Persian food, gardening, and seeing places with her family.

Dr. Adrien Janvier

Associate Program Director

Dr. Adrien Janvier is an Associate Program Director and a native of Brooklyn, New York.  He graduated medical and graduate school from New York University.  He went on to complete internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, followed by a nephrology fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He initially joined MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center as a hospitalist, where his natural affinity for teaching showed through early. He transitioned to a full time faculty member, where he is one of our most sought after educators. He enjoys teaching residents clinical medicine and has an interest in quality improvement and high value care.  He has worked on several projects aimed at reducing unnecessary inpatient AM lab draws and improving medication history-taking and reconciliation.  He is also actively looking to incorporate point-of-care ultrasound into daily patient evaluations to enhance bedside diagnostic capabilities. 

Dr. Janvier holds a faculty appointment at Georgetown University as an Assistant Clinical Professor. He is the Director of the Inpatient Care Track, guiding our residents who have a strong interest in the inpatient care setting. He serves as an advisor for many residents and has coauthored papers with several. An active citizen of the Medstar community, he serves on the Transfusion Practice Committee, MHIM Clinical Competency Committee, Risk Management Committee, Medical Executive Committee, and the MHIM Workgroup for Racial Justice.   

Nahar Saleh

Dr. Nahar Saleh was born and raised in Latakia, Syria, where she went to medical school at Tishreen University before moving to Baltimore to complete her internal medicine residency at MHIM. She then joined the MHIM family as a chief resident and is currently a faculty member. In addition, Dr. Saleh holds an Assistant Clinical Professor's faculty appointment at Georgetown University.

Among her many interests, hospital medicine, rheumatology, and POCUS are where she devotes a lot of her time. In addition, she is passionate about teaching bedside medicine and being involved with academic activities with residents and students.

Outside work, she enjoys cooking for family and friends, gardening, and reading poetry.

TAMMARA_Anita_Internal Medicine_MFSMC_Baltimore

Dr. Anita Tammara

Associate Program Director

Dr. Anita Tammara is the Associate Chair of Department of Medicine, Associate Program Director, and Medical Director of the Primary Care Center at MFSMC. She is native of Maryland. She completed her residency at University of Maryland – Midtown Medical Center. She first joined MedStar Franklin Square as an Academic Hospitalist, then became heavily involved in the primary care setting for the resident clinic. She enjoys both aspects of inpatient and outpatient medicine and concentrates her efforts in transitions of care of our patient population.

Her other areas of interest are medication reconciliation, behavioral health, and substance dependence on our patients. Dr. Tammara is active member in many aspects of medicine, including capacity management and various committees throughout the hospital. She also is the co-chair of the CCC committee, involved in mentoring, advising, and chairs the career planning committee.

Dr. Tammara holds a faculty appointment at Georgetown University as an Assistant Clinical Professor. She is involved in various quality improvement projects and assists some of our residents in clinical vignettes. She also has emphasis on resident wellness and serves as a chair for the program of wellness initiatives and well-being for our residents.

Dr. Dave Weisman

Associate Program Director

Dr. Dave Weisman is an associate program director and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Georgetown School of Medicine. He is a graduate of the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency training at the University of Illinois at Chicago. After serving as a fourth-year chief resident at the University of Illinois at Chicago he remained as faculty member until 2002 when he moved to Baltimore. Since that time, he has worked at MedStar Health and became a teaching core faculty member in 2003.

Dr. Weisman’s scholarly work focuses on improving residency training in evidence-based medicine, residents’ engagement in quality improvement activities and research that involves experiential learning and hypothesis testing. He has completed a certificate in point of care ultrasound training through SHM/CHEST and has developed a point of care ultrasound curriculum focused on enhancing resident clinical assessments. At MedStar Good Samaritan and MedStar Union Memorial Hospitals, he is the committee chair of the Mortality Committee; and former President of the Medical Staff at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital.

In addition, he has a special interest in teaching students and residents about interpretation of the medical literature. He oversees the evidence-based medicine curriculum and monthly Journal Clubs. He has helped to develop a resident research curriculum and has published in several peer-reviewed journals with residents. He is a triple recipient of the Golden Apple Teaching Award and the Dr. Conley Award recipient for recognition for resident teaching and research, Maryland ACP in 2019.

He is a Baltimore native and likes to give back to the community by serving as an active primary care physician with over 500 patients in his practice. Most of all, he enjoys teaching residents and students the intricacies and challenges of general internal medicine. Dave spends most of his free time with his wife and chasing after their two boys.

 

Dr. Radhika Vij

Associate Program Director

Dr. Radhika Vij is Vice-Chair/Outpatient Medicine & Associate Program Director. She was born and raised in India and moved to Baltimore, Maryland to do her training in Internal Medicine at Greater Baltimore Medical Center where she also served as Chief Resident. She subsequently joined the faculty at MedStar Health Internal Medicine Residency Program where, in addition to caring for patients, she has been deeply committed to medical education. She is the Director of the Internal Medicine Primary Care Track & is at the forefront of ambulatory education in internal medicine. Her interests include chronic disease management, preventive care and training the next generation of physicians to become patient-centered, humanistic, and compassionate clinicians.

Outside of work she enjoys music, reading, traveling and spending time with her family & friends.

Our program would simply not function without the ingenuity and dedication of our residency coordinators. From ordering lab coats to planning our graduation celebration, these ladies get it done. But, don't be fooled, they do so much more for our program than office work. They are our residents' advocates, and are always there to bring a friendly, positive vibe to our departments.
