Application Information—The MedStar Health—Washington Hospital Center Residency Program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

To qualify for the MedStar Washington Hospital Center residency program in oral and maxillofacial surgery, the applicant must:

  • Have graduated from or be eligible for graduation from an accredited U.S. dental school or Canadian school
  • Be either a U.S. citizen, Canadian citizen, or have proof of permanent residency within the U.S.
  • Be self-motivated, disciplined, confident, and inquisitive with a willingness to learn and an inclination toward clinical and surgical practice with a strong academic background
  • Have passed part one of the National Board Dental Exam. If no numeric score is available from Part 1 of dental boards, the applicant must take the NBME Comprehensive Basic Science Exam (CBSE) administered through the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons

Supplemental application

In addition to documents required by PASS, please upload to your PASS application the following:

  • 2x2 photo
  • Official undergraduate transcripts

The department also requires a supplemental application and processing fee. Please complete the link for the GME application. If any of the other materials could not be uploaded to PASS, you may include them in the mailing. You must send the following:

  • MedStar Washington Hospital Center GME application 

  • A check made to the MedStar Washington Hospital Center Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the amount of $50.00

The Resident Selection Committee will review all applications and those applicants selected for interview will be contacted personally by a committee member. Interviews typically take place in mid-November or early December.
