Application Information—The MedStar Health—Washington Hospital Center Fellowship Program in Hospice and Palliative Medicine

Physician fellowship applicants submit applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Of note, the specialty of palliative care participates in the match process.  Applications will be accepted through ERAS starting in June for fellowships starting the following July. Please contact us directly if you have any questions about the application process. Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Have completed an ACGME accredited residency program by the time of fellowship

  • Applicants must be board certified in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Neurology, Psychiatry, Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics, Radiology, or Ob/Gyn, or board eligible with demonstration of active pursuit of certification

Application requirements

  • Curriculum vitae

  • A personal statement describing the applicant's interest in and commitment to a career in palliative medicine and hospice

  • Three letters of recommendation, one of which should be from the applicant's department head, program director, or division chief and at least one letter should be from a clinician in the field of hospice or palliative care

  • USMLE transcript

  • MedStar Health supports J-1 visa applications
