The Vascular Surgery Fellowship provides clinical experience at three area hospitals:

MedStar Georgetown University Hospital

The vascular faculty members at MedStar Georgetown emphasize care of patients with peripheral vascular disease, including a focus on:

  • Lower extremity bypass procedures
  • Complex aortic pathologies
  • Venous pathologies

The vascular surgery team includes a chief resident, a third-year resident and an intern.

MedStar Washington Hospital Center

At MedStar Washington trainees can expect:

  • Graduated independent experience with a diverse patient population
  • Level I Trauma Center experience with exposure to vascular trauma
  • Exposure to complex thoracic aortic disease
  • Working at one of the top cardiovascular institutes in the country
  • Participation in fenestrated aortic endografts
  • A new, hybrid endovascular OR suite

The vascular surgery team includes a chief resident, a third-year resident, a second-year resident and two interns.

Veterans Administration Medical Center

The VA hospital is a tertiary care teaching facility located across the street from MedStar Washington. Fellows can expect:

  • Independent operating experience on patients with vascular disease, ranging from peripheral bypasses to open aortic surgery to vascular access
  • Robust outpatient vascular experience
  • Focused experience in the vascular laboratory
  • The opportunity to develop a clinical research project
