Clark Bean, MBA, PMP, CAAMA, serves as Director, Information Technology for MedStar Heath Research Institute and provides leadership in setting the strategic direction for the organization and ensuring consistency with the MedStar Health strategic IT plan. In this role, he provides analyses of scientific, administrative and financial business requirements specific to the Research Institute and collaborates with MHRI leaders to recommend and implement solutions.

A member of the Research Institute's senior management staff since 2008, Clark ensures that the organization's needs are being accurately communicated to the corporate MedStar IS organization; that the corporate IT staff is being appropriately deployed to ensure the successful implementation of the MedStar strategic IT vision; and that the day-to-day IT needs of the Research Institute are being effectively managed. Clark also ensures IT systems are in compliance with internal and external regulatory agencies.

Clark joined MHRI after three years as a Department of Defense (DoD) contractor, where he project-managed the worldwide implementation and training of DoD's electronic health record. Prior to that, Clark retired from the U.S. Air Force after 24 years of service as a Communications and Medical Service Corps Officer. Among his many duty assignments, he served as the CIO at a Community Hospital and a teaching Medical Center. Clark served on the Surgeon General's staff and was COO of a Combat Hospital during a Middle East deployment. Clark is a certified Program Management Professional (PMP) and a Board Certified Member, American Academy of Medical Administrators (AAMA).
