Lucy is a clinical human factors and system safety specialist at the MedStar Health National Center for Human Factors in Healthcare. She specializes in safety event analysis, as well as research and strategies related to optimizing the built environment to reduce human error, improve patient safety, and support provider well-being. She also manages several human factors research projects including a grant from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC). Lucy serves on the Facility Guidelines Institute advisory group as a member of the Inclusive Environments topic group, ensuring that national architectural guidelines for healthcare environments accommodate the needs of older populations and people with disabilities. Lucy is a licensed occupational therapist and certified aging in place specialist. She practices at the MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital as well as in home settings. She holds a bachelor's in human factors and ergonomics from Cornell University, and received her master's in occupational therapy from Columbia University. Lucy enjoys making pottery, knitting, and camping.
