Yongxing Zhou, MD, Board-Certified Neurologist, MedStar St. Mary's Hospital

Dr. Yongxing Zhou (pronounced “Joe”) is a board-certified neurologist, caring for patients with a wide range of neurological needs, and he is fellowship-trained in epilepsy. Dr. Zhou graduated from Xiangya Medical School, and he completed his medical residency and internship at Florida State University, the University of Florida, and Howard University Hospital. Following those programs, he conducted his fellowship training in epilepsy at George Washington University Hospital. He joined the medical staff at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in 2018, and he continues to see patients there.

Prior to his resident training, he was a research assistant professor at the School of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Zhou is also an honors professor of the Department of Neurology at the China-Japan Friendship Hospital in Beijing, and an honors professor in the Department of Neurology at Shanghai Children’s Medical Center. Dr. Zhou received multiple outstanding medical awards from the Department of Public Health and the Department of Science & Technology in China, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Fellows Award for Research Excellence (FARE) as well awards from the National Medical Association (NMA) and the American Academy of Neurology (AAN). In addition, he has published more than 40 neurology and neuroscience papers.
