Five Reasons to Choose MedStar Emergency Physicians

MedStar Emergency Physicians (MEP) is training the next generation of emergency physicians through our MedStar Georgetown University Hospital/Washington Hospital Center Residency in Emergency Medicine program. Our physicians have the opportunity to provide lectures, attend Grand Rounds, and help shape our emergency medicine residents' clinical experiences.

MEP provides our hospitals and patients with a top 10% emergency department. Through aggressive recruitment and retention of the best and brightest emergency physicians, physician-nurse-PA teamwork, and a collaborative relationship with our hospitals, our patients receive care that is state-of-the-art, meets or exceeds national standards, and is safe, effective, equitable, and timely.

MEP is a leader in educating healthcare providers. We utilize our innovative training tools (e.g. SiTEL Learning Management System and the expertise of the ER One Institute and MedStar Institute for Innovation) and programs to help our hospitals meet and exceed the many educational and performance requirements that they face in these areas:

  • Emergency preparedness with a focus on nuclear and radiologic training
  • Patient safety with training on ultrasound guided central line placement, rapid response team training, ACLS, and code blue training
  • Employee, nursing and physician competency training

MEP providers are employees of MedStar Health. As such, our employees, patients and emergency departments benefit from having even more direct access to the programmatic (MedSTAR Transport, venue care/mass gathering medical care for the Baltimore Ravens), educational, and system resources of MedStar Health.

MEP is integrated into the “fabric” of our MedStar Health hospitals and always acts in the best interest of our patients, medical staff, and leaders. MEP encourages our senior physicians to participate in and lead committees at multiple levels. In fact, we currently have physicians who participate in and lead work groups and committees at the departmental, hospital, corporate, state and national level. We encourage our physicians to search out these opportunities and MEP leaders help mentor our young, talented physicians to be prepared for this challenge.
