Melissa “Mel” Goodrich serves as assistant vice president of human resources for MedStar Rehabilitation Network, MedStar Health Research Institute, and MedStar Health Diversified Businesses.
Mel began her human resources career in 1993 and has since worked in health care, retail, and workforce staffing industries. With 26 years of human resources experience, Mel joined the MedStar Health system in 2013 as Human Resources Manager for MedStar Cardiology Associates. She was promoted in 2014 to the Director of Human Resources, supporting Diversified Businesses across the system. Mel provided operational support to many MedStar Health units, including MedStar Ambulatory Services, MedStar Visiting Nurse Association, MedStar House Call Program, and MedStar Family Choice. In 2017, she began supporting MedStar Health Research Institute and in 2018, Mel was promoted to her current role of assistant vice president and welcomed to the MedStar National Rehabilitation Network.
Mel received a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University and a Master of Science in Human Resource Management with a concentration in Organizational Effectiveness. She has earned the Professional Human Resource (PHR) certification and is recognized by the Society for Human Resource Management as a certified professional (SHRM-CP). She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, the American Society for Healthcare Human Resources and the Maryland Healthcare Human Resource Administration.
In her current role, she was instrumental in developing an HR Service Delivery Model which implemented an HR Business Partner role within the organization. The success of the new HR model was contingent on working with the operational leaders and maintaining a focus of delivering outstanding service and partnership. Mel and her team are highly regarded for being strategic partners, employee champions, and change agents.
