Catherine Zimmerer, MSN, RN, is director of Quality and Education at MedStar Medical Group, where she is responsible for clinical quality in more than 48 outpatient physician practices in Maryland and the District of Columbia. Ms. Zimmerer is instrumental in the coordination and planning of activities that have allowed 24 provider practices to achieve National Committee for Quality Assurance Patient-Centered Medical Home certification. She is leading the workflow redesign for the standardization of MedStar Medical Group. She also oversees health education planning for MedStar Family Choice and quality and education for the MedStar Prompt Care urgent-care centers.
Ms. Zimmerer is certified in Medical Education Research, and she is a certified chronic disease specialist trainer. She serves on the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s Professional Volunteer Corps. Her professional memberships include the American Nurses Association, the Chesapeake Bay Association for Vascular Access Nurses, the Maryland Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau.
Ms. Zimmerer received her master’s degree in nursing from Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA.
