Joanna Pearson

Joanna  Pearson, AuD, is a clinical audiologist, Department of Hearing and Speech, MedStar Washington Hospital Center. In addition, she is a forensic audiologist at the Washington, DC, Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Dr. Pearson's current research interests focus on patient outcomes and hearing aid verification, as well as implementation of evidenced-based practice. Her prior research experience has included participation in a speech perceptions study comparing the performance of young listeners with normal hearing to that of older listeners with hearing loss. Dr. Pearson has presented her research at both national and international conferences. In 2011, she was selected as a fellow on a grant that promoted cross-cultural exchange between Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology students in the United States and Brazil. This project, supported by the Department of Education's Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education program, focused on children with speech disorders, hearing loss, cleft lip and/or palate or autism spectrum disorders.

Dr. Pearson is certified in audiology. She is an active member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

She received her doctorate in Audiology from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN. She completed her externship at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Washington, DC.
