Jonathan Davis, MD, is an attending emergency medicine physician at MedStar Washington Hospital Center (MWHC) and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital (MGUH). In addition, he is Professor & Academic Chair of Emergency Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine and for MedStar Emergency Physicians. System roles include work as the System Physician Chair for Graduate Medical Education (GME) for MedStar Health. His previous experience includes service as an attending emergency physician at Stanford University Medical Center, Palo Alto, CA.
Dr. Davis is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM). He has received several other honors for his teaching and research, including a National Faculty Teaching Award from ACEP. He has also been chosen as a National Emergency Medicine Program Director of the Year by AAEM.
Dr. Davis is active in several professional societies. He was selected to serve as chair for the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine’s Graduate Medical Education Committee. He also was selected to serve as chair of the Education Committee for ACEP. Dr. Davis is certified in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
He is frequently invited to speak at meetings of professional societies. His lecture topics have ranged from acute care topics to academic and clinical advancement and leadership. Dr. Davis is a peer reviewer for several publications, including Academic Emergency Medicine and the Journal of Emergency Medicine. His research has been published in scientific journals, including the Journal of Emergency Medicine, Annals of Emergency Medicine, Emergency Medicine Clinics of North America and the Journal of Graduate Medical Education. He serves as an Associate Editor for Rosen's Emergency Medicine, which is among the most frequently referenced resources in the specialty both nationally and internationally.
He received his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine Summa Cum Laude. He completed residency training in emergency medicine at Stanford University Medical Center, where he was selected to receive the Award for Clinical Excellence at the time of graduation.
