Washington, D.C. – MedStar Health is pleased to announce that award-winning journalist and former WUSA-TV news anchor, Andrea Roane, will host a series of upcoming Facebook Live events focused on women and heart health in the age of COVID-19. This series is part of MedStar Health’s nationally recognized education campaign on women and heart disease called Listen to Your Heart.
The first event will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 11 from Noon to 12:30 p.m. Visit Facebook here to register and participate.
MedStar Heart & Vascular Institute created this special series to share important information with women about how to protect their hearts to protect their overall health
“COVID has made it clear that, as a nation, we must take better care of our health, particularly our heart health, and we must address the significant healthcare disparities that exist for minorities,” said Estelle Jean, MD, the board-certified, MedStar Health noninvasive cardiologist who will be the first guest on this Facebook Live series. “During our first event on November 11, Andrea and I will share some basics: Which heart-related risk factors are connected to COVID? Why do these links exist? What can we do to stay as healthy as possible? What do women, particularly women of color, need to know? We will also take questions from viewers.”
Other events in this series will delve more deeply into diabetes, weight management, and the disparities that exist for African American and Latino women.
“I am very pleased to be part of this important educational effort, especially now as many of us are working hard to understand how to protect our own health and the health of our family and friends,” says Roane. “As a long-time advocate for greater health education, awareness, and access – particularly for women of color – this series is timely and substantive.”
Register to participate in this event and follow MedStar Health on Facebook for updates on the upcoming sessions.
