Kerry M. Richard is Senior Vice President and Executive Deputy General Counsel for MedStar Health. As chief counsel for all MedStar Health hospitals, she oversees all matters handled by the legal hospital counsel team and has primary responsibility for legal matters relating to medical staff, graduate medical education, labor, employment, and immigration.
Prior to joining MedStar in 2007, Richard spent 17 years engaged in the private practice of law. During this tenure, she represented MedStar and numerous healthcare and other professional and non-profit organizations, supporting their graduate medical education, medical staff, physician performance, labor, employment, and general business law needs.
Richard regularly lectures across North America, conducts in-house training seminars and intensive faculty development workshops, focused on employment/academic relations management.
Richard is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Denver, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts. She earned her juris doctor degree, cum laude, from Boston University Law School.
