Vice President of Marketing, Communications, & Physician Relations
Jean Bunker joined MedStar Medical Group (MMG) in 2016 as vice president, Marketing, Communications and Physician Relations. In this role, she creates and executes consumer marketing campaigns to build brand awareness and drive volumes to MMG practices and providers. She leads the internal communications strategies for MMG, including serving as the lead for ambulatory electronic health record communications. She also oversees the MMG physician relations business development function, and co-chairs a system physician relations steering committee.
Bunker joined MMG from Feinstein Kean Healthcare (FKH), a full service marketing and business consulting firm specializing in the healthcare industry. FKH is a part of Ogilvy, one of the world’s premier communication firms. She served as a vice president, leading account teams for Mevion Medical Systems (proton therapy), Medela U.S., Global Biological Standards Institute, Deloitte/ConvergeHealth, and Eli Lilly and Company.
Before FKH, Bunker spent a decade at MedStar Harbor Hospital as vice president, Marketing, Community Relations and Philanthropy, where she also oversaw the front desk and operators, and co-led the service excellence platform. She came to MedStar Harbor from the MedStar Health’s corporate office, where she served as manager of Corporate Communications and helped to build the then-nascent function.
Prior to that, Bunker worked at University of Maryland, College Park as a senior communications associate; Eisner, Petrou & Associates, a public relations agency in Baltimore, as a senior account executive; and AllSteel Europe in London, as a marketing and communications coordinator.
With more than 20 years of strategic marketing communications experience in a variety of specialties, she is the recipient of nearly 100 local, regional and national communications industry awards. Bunker received her bachelor’s degree in communication arts from Notre Dame of Maryland University, her master’s degree in public communication from American University, and has earned a national professional accreditation from the International Association of Business Communicators.
