Ambulatory care is a fast-paced, rapidly growing segment of the healthcare industry, and MedStar Health has been a market leader in this area, with a comprehensive, long-term strategy to develop a Distributed Care Delivery Network.
This fellowship provides an exceptional opportunity for eager, young professionals to gain experience in a division with a great deal of activity, change and exciting work. The fellow will have a unique experience, while being exposed to senior leaders and projects that cover a wide variety of business areas.
The fellow for MedStar Ambulatory Services will be based at MedStar Health’s corporate office in Columbia, MD, however, local travel may be required. The network includes care sites in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia.
MedStar Ambulatory Services is comprised of a network of urgent care centers, multispecialty ambulatory care centers, outpatient surgery centers, radiology services, radiation therapy sites, and retail pharmacies. Additionally, MedStar Ambulatory Services oversees the operations for MedStar eVisit, our virtual visit platform. Leaders in this division work collaboratively with other MedStar Health entity leaders to advance the mission and strategic plan of MedStar Health.

About the MedStar Ambulatory Services Administrative Fellowship
The MedStar Ambulatory Services Administrative Fellowship is a one-year position based within MedStar Ambulatory Services, the rapidly growing outpatient division of MedStar Health. The fellowship will include mentorship and support from the executive leadership team which includes the President, Chief Operating Office and Assistant Vice President of Patient Experience. Project opportunities will be based throughout the Baltimore and Washington D.C. metropolitan areas and may include work in strategic planning, business development, facility development, care site operations, human resources, finance, quality, safety, project management, patient experience, and information technology.

The fellowship is self-directed; thus fellows will be encouraged to apply their individual background and experience in the work environment in order to contribute to the system and gain an in-depth understanding of an integrated healthcare delivery system and distributed care delivery network. Below are examples of the various projects that former MedStar Ambulatory Services Administrative Fellows have managed.
Co-developed a division-wide monthly newsletter to improve internal communication between MedStar Associates across the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
Provided analytics throughout MedStar Ambulatory Services through the production of weekly dashboard and ad-hoc analyses that include reporting on volume, patient safety, patient demographics and referral trends.
Project Manager for online check-In initiative for all MedStar Health Urgent Care locations. Implemented ClockwiseMD solution that provided easy online scheduling and wait time transparency for urgent care patients, and intuitive reports such as door-to-door benchmarks for clinical staff, operations, and marketing.
Co-developed a division wide operational result review process that measures and tracks the longitudinal performance of all entities and sites within MedStar Ambulatory Services.
Project managed the design and development of a facility readiness process and activation project plan for new multispecialty ambulatory care centers.
Co-lead the initiation phase of a division wide customer service program and advisory council for new and existing associates across the division.
Assisted with the design of a business development process to approve and implement new programs and services.
