We turn our compassionate expertise in medicine and research into care that focuses on the dignity and well-being of older adults. Our experts positively impact patients through the management of chronic conditions, prevention of disease, and promotion of healthy aging.
A vision developed by Dana H. Frank, MD, chairman of medicine at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital and MedStar Union Memorial Hospital, the Health Economics and Aging Research (H.E.A.R.) Institute, embarks to change the care experience for some of our most vulnerable patients.
We will implement research-proven best practices to transform elder care through the H.E.A.R. Institute, which will be located within the Collaborative Care program at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital. Through the support, evaluation, and discoveries of the H.E.A.R. Institute, this program will provide integrated specialty and behavioral health care. Patients cared for through this program are faced with multiple complex chronic conditions such as congestive heart failure, diabetes, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
