About me
Adedamola Omogbehin, MD, is board certified in radiation oncology at MedStar Georgetown Cancer Institute at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. As a radiation oncologist who specializes in gynecological cancer, sarcoma, and breast cancer, Dr. Omogbehin provides external beam radiation therapy and brachytherapy treatments. He also is a member of the American Board of Radiology, American Brachytherapy Society, American College of Radiology, and American Society for Therapeutic Radiology.
Dr. Omogbehin’s approach to care centers on providing empathetic and compassionate services. He begins by listening to patients to learn about their specific health concerns and goals. He then educates them about every phase of treatment including performing radiation therapy simulations. This planning phase familiarizes patients with the state-of-the-art equipment while also demonstrating how their bodies will be positioned during every session.
Dr. Omogbehin is dedicated to raising awareness about high-dose brachytherapy – an innovative therapy that destroys or controls the growth of cancer cells with limited radiation exposure to surrounding normal tissues. He is particularly interested in interstitial and intracavitary brachytherapy that uses specialized needles and applicators to place radiation implants near or inside targeted tumors. His research interests are focused on promising clinical trials that are committed to improving cancer patients’ medical outcomes and quality of life. Referring physicians should know that he collaborates with many oncology specialists to provide comprehensive and accessible care.
Philosophy of care
“I’ve always been curious about physics, radiology, and biology. That fascination led me to radiation oncology, a medical field that combines all three disciplines. I enjoy applying my knowledge and experience towards helping patients reduce or eliminate their cancer symptoms and anxiety. When combined with my background of working at health organizations in the United States and around the world, I’m passionate about providing kind and stellar care that makes a difference in the lives of diverse communities.”
