Cody D. Legler, DNP, APRN, NP-BC, RN-BC, NEA-BC, CNL

Cody D. Legler, DNP, APRN, NP-BC, RN-BC, NEA-BC, CNL, returned to MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center as the Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer in January 2020. Dr. Legler had previously served as Senior Director of Nursing, Operating Room Services, Women and Infants Services, Cardiac Cath Lab & Procedural Areas and Capacity Management at MSMHC. In June 2018, he became Senior Nursing Director of Perioperative Services at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. He has also served as System Chief Clinical Officer at LivHOME, a nationwide home care and care management organization, in addition to various Director roles at MWHC.

He earned his Doctor of Nursing Practice from The George Washington University in 2014. In addition to his clinical and administrative roles, Legler is an adjunct faculty member at both Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia and The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.,  He also worked in previous clinical nursing roles in case management, home health and intensive care. Legler volunteers as an adult-geriatric nurse practitioner in a community health clinic.

Dr. Legler is a member of the American Nurses Association (ANA), the American Organization of  Nurse Executives (AONE), the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN), and The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
