Educational activities include weekly textbook review, weekly Kodachrome review, twice monthly journal club, twice monthly
basic science lectures, twice monthly formal dermatopathology
review, and weekly grand rounds that alternate from MedStar
Washington Hospital Center, MedStar Georgetown University
Hospital, and the National Institutes of Health.
Textbook Review - Meets once a week to increase
the resident's medical knowledge of dermatologic conditions and
Kodachrome Conference - Meets once weekly to
increase the resident's ability to recognize skin disease by
means other than clinical examination.
Basic Science Lectures - Meets twice monthly to
further the resident's basic science knowledge.
Journal Club - Meets twice monthly to teach the
resident the scientific process of clinical investigation and
analysis and keep residents up to date with the latest methods
Dermatopathology Conference - Meets twice
monthly to improve resident's ability to recognize
histopathologic patterns of disease and improve clinic-pathologic
Grand Rounds - Meets weekly to improve the
resident's recognition of common diseases, rare and exotic
diseases, disease processes, and various alternatives to
treatment of diseases.
