The Internal Medicine curriculum is designed to accommodate
residents' educational objectives and to keep pace with changes
in the field. Electives and ambulatory experiences are tailored
to support individual career goals.
Our curriculum undergoes regular reviews by the Department of
Medicine with input from faculty, residents and others, resulting
in the development of new programs and the reshaping of existing
ones. Changes are implemented gradually to avoid disruptions in
residents' schedules and duties.
Health's affiliation with the University of Maryland School
of Medicine links the best of community-based teaching with
complementary opportunities available only in a medical school
environment. Medical residents, medical students and fellows from
the University of Maryland practice and learn alongside our
residents on the wards, in the Primary Care
Center and in our excellent teaching nursing home.
