This residency program is a comprehensive three- year experience,
which incorporates clinical, and academic, didactic experiences.
The students that graduate from this institution after three
years are highly qualified individuals that are prepared for the
various aspects of private practice in Podiatric
The residency program in podiatry at the Washington Hospital
Center is an ever- changing dynamic process. With a core
education in foot surgery, along with the basic rotations, there
is an ever- expanding opportunity to gain experience in other
disciplines in medicine. The attending staff at the Hospital
Center is eager to teach residents of all specialties in order
that they may be better prepared for the world of medicine once
the training years are completed.
There are approximately 22 podiatry attendings that are involved
in the education of the residents. Their involvement includes
activities such as journal clubs, didactic lectures, and clinic
and emergency room coverage via an "on-call" schedule, operating
room mentoring, and private office rotations.
