Director Telemetry and Intermediate Care - MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital

Lea Ann Carranza, MS, BSN, RN, PCCN, CWOCN is a Nursing Director for MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital. As a nursing leader for the Medical-Surgical/Telemetry department, she is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a 34-bed acute-care inpatient medical unit.

Carranza was selected as a MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation Scholarship recipient in 2010 and earned an Associate of Science in Nursing from the College of Southern Maryland in 2012. She served in various roles on the Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit including staff nurse, preceptor and charge nurse while completing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University. Carranza has also held the role as a nationally certified Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse. Prior to assuming her current role, Carranza received a Master of Science, with an emphasis in Clinical Nursing Leadership from the University of Arizona, in 2018. She also holds a certification in Progressive Care through the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and is a Certified Nurse Manager and Leader through the American Organization for Nursing Leadership.

She holds memberships to the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, Wound Ostomy Continence Nurses Society, and the American Organization for Nursing Leadership.
