About me

George H. Clements, MD, is an attending noninvasive cardiologist at the MedStar Heart and Vascular Institute. Board certified in cardiology, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology, Dr. Clements possesses extensive experience working with highly complex cases in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Dr. Clements mainly sees patients for coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and valvular heart disease. He also sees patients who are at high risk for heart disease, and works with them to lower their risk through preventative measures.

As a noninvasive cardiologist, Dr. Clements’ goal is to provide patient-centered, evidence-based care that involves lifestyle changes, prescription medications, and diagnostic testing when appropriate. He enjoys collaborating with referring physicians to achieve the best outcome for their mutual patients. His typical diagnostic approach with patients involves an initial interview and physical exam, followed by EKGs, stress testing, and echocardiography including transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms as needed.

Dr. Clements received his medical degree from Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, where he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society as well as the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He then completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center, where he was awarded Resident of the Year. Finally, he completed his Cardiology fellowship training at the University of Maryland Medical Center, where he was awarded the Humanism and Professionalism Award within the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine.

Dr. Clements was born and raised in Glyndon, Maryland. He and his wife, an Annapolis native, are both very excited to be back in the area. When out of the office, Dr. Clements enjoys golf, tennis, and playing with his chocolate Labrador.

Philosophy of care

“I try to look at every patient as an individual and get to know the person, not just the disease that they have. That way we can work together to accomplish their individual health goals.

“Patient education is very important. The more informed that people are about what’s going on with their body, the more I have found that they are invested in their care. This empowers people to become a more active and engaged participant in their health.

“I strive to provide the most up-to-date and state-of-the-art care in a compassionate and caring manner.”
