With more than 20 years of nursing experience (17 in a wide range of leadership roles at MedStar Health), Karen Elliott has demonstrated the successful implementation of innovative programs, achieving quality goals, fostering multidisciplinary engagement, designing process improvements initiatives, and directing nursing operations.
She began her career as a nurse in the emergency department at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center. She then became the assistant director of emergency services at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Following that, she served as the director of the Telemetry/Cardiac Unit at MedStar Southern Maryland and was named the hospital’s Senior Director of Nursing until assuming her current role as chief nursing officer at MedStar Harbor Hospital.
Elliott is passionate about improving healthcare outcomes, professional development, and innovation in clinical practice.
