Returning Volunteer Update

Our volunteers are the heart of what we do, and your safety is our priority. We are excited to welcome returning volunteers back to MedStar Union Memorial Hospital in a limited capacity. Volunteer Opportunities 

We are excited to welcome Volunteers to MedStar Union Memorial Hospital and are looking for new dynamic individuals to join our team.

We offer several exciting programs:

Guest Ambassador Program: This Non-Clinical program is designed for students who have completed at least one year of university studies and wish to learn more about careers in the medical field and interact with patients. Placements are available on the medical floors and in the Emergency Department. This semester-long program will improve your skills in communication and teamwork.

Adult Volunteer Program: This program is designed for adults ages 18 and up who are not actively in school and pursuing a medical career. Many roles and opportunities are available including patient comfort/support, Auxiliary gift shop, greeting visitors, wayfinding, playing music and creating art for patients. Pet therapy is one of our most desired programs for those who have certified Pets on Wheels animals.

Junior Volunteer Program: This is our summer high school program for students between ages 16-18. Starting in mid to late June and ending in August, prior to schools re-opening, students volunteer for four hours on assigned days in roles to comfort patients. This program is limited and competitive, so apply early in March.

Auxiliary: This team is our FUN-raising event planners who help at vendor sales, in the Front Door Gift Shop and other fun events.
