If your condition needs further testing, such as blood tests or cultures, we will have most results in 48 to 72 hours. Some advanced testing for serious illnesses may require a referral to a nearby hospital’s emergency department.
  • Online Check In

    • Select a location that is most convenient and click “Check In Now” to choose an arrival time.
    • You will receive a text message reminder before you are scheduled to arrive. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork.
    • When you get to the urgent care center, please check in with our front desk associate to complete your registration.
    • We make every effort to see you as close to your check-in time as possible. Please understand that your arrival time is not an appointment and may be delayed by unforeseeable emergencies. Your place in line may change if another patient has a more serious condition. The good news is, if your arrival time changes, you will be notified by text message so you can continue to wait at home.
    • We can only hold your place in line for 10 minutes past your chosen arrival time.
    * Online check-in is not required to be seen at a MedStar Health Urgent Care center. Walk-ins are always welcome.

Q: Who will be providing the healthcare services for MedStar eVisit?

A: All the providers on MedStar eVisit are employed directly by MedStar Health and also provide care in MedStar Health Urgent Care, MedStar Health Emergency departments, internal medicine, or pediatrics. Our team of physicians, nurse practitioners, and physicians’ assistants focus on acute care conditions and telehealth

Q: How do I decide what provider to use for my visit?

A: You can select a provider based on a variety of criteria, including provider profiles, your “favorite” list, or the provider wait time.

Q: What if I select a provider and the wait is too long?

A: The average wait time is three to five minutes. When logged in, you are able to view the wait time of each available provider. If a wait time is getting to be too long, or another provider is available sooner, you have the option to switch. You will only be charged if a visit is completed by a provider.

Q: Can I see the same provider each visit?

A: Yes. If the provider is available at the time of your visit, you can see the same provider. You are able to select “favorite” providers so that it is easy to locate him or her for future visits.

Q: Can I follow up with my provider after my visit?

A: Yes. If you have questions following your visit, you can follow up with your provider via a secure messaging tool within MedStar eVisit.

  • Cost, Billing, and Insurance

ALERT: MedStar eVisit is pleased to have supported our community during the COVID-19 pandemic by providing more than 75,000 urgent care telehealth visits free of charge. As of July 1, MedStar eVisit will again charge for the service. Most patients can verify their insurance at the time of service and expect co-payment similar to an office visit. A cash price of $59 is available as an affordable care option for patients paying out of pocket. Thank you.

Q: What is the cost for a MedStar eVisit?

A: The cost of a MedStar eVisit is $59 (often less than the copay for an urgent care or emergency department visit). This fee is payable at the time of visit via credit card and does not include the cost of any medications, follow-up lab work, or follow-up visits, if deemed applicable.

Depending on your health insurance plan benefits, you may have coverage for MedStar eVisit. As the service provider, MedStar Medical Group will submit a claim to your insurance, as is done for a regular in-person office visit. MedStar eVisit encourages you to check with your insurance plan to determine whether your visit will be covered. Because of changing legislation and health insurance guidance, MedStar Medical Group is not collecting any cost-share, i.e., copayments, coinsurance, or deductibles, until your health insurance processes the claim and determines if you have any out-of-pocket expense.
