About the Provider

Dr. Ricardo Quarrie is a cardiothoracic surgeon with the MedStar Heart & Vascular Institute at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Quarrie sees patients with a wide breadth of disease pathologies. He has specialty training in aortic disease and has a particular interest in aortic root and arch abnormalities. He has also conducted research on, and is interested in, cardiac ischemia-reperfusion. 

From a very early age, Dr. Quarrie was interested in medicine and health care. His own personal experiences and the positive influence of his doctors have helped shaped his philosophy of patient care.  He takes the time to learn about each of his patients so that he can advise on the right treatment for them. 

Throughout his career, Dr. Quarrie has written numerous articles for publications such as the Journal of Cardiac Surgery and the American Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology. He has also given presentations on his research at the regional and national levels.

Dr. Quarrie is a member of the Association of Academic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
