About me
Mark Richardson, MD, is a board-certified, fellowship trained orthopaedic trauma surgeon. He sees patients in Baltimore at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital. Dr. Richardson is also a retired United States Air Force Colonel. He is a decorated veteran, who was deployed in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007 and 2005, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Shining Hope (Kosovo).
Dr. Richardson is the Chairman for the Center for Orthopaedic Trauma Advancement (COTA), part of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association. In this role, which he has held since 2009, he and COTA advance the field by funding trauma fellowships. Dr. Richardson is also a Scientific Reviewer for the Peer Reviewed Orthopaedic Research Program, and has been the principal investigator for numerous research studies. He is an author and international lecturer.
Dr. Richardson has been an instructor in war surgery, and is currently an instructor for advanced trauma life support and fracture surgery.
Since 1996, Dr. Richardson has held progressively responsible senior administrative roles in addition to his clinical practice. Most recently, he was the vice president of the orthopedic service line for WellSpan Health in York, Pennsylvania. He is also a member of the American Association of Physician Leadership and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Orthopaedic Trauma Association, among others.
