Michael Bekkerman, DO, MS, is a fellowship-trained medical oncologist and hematologist practicing at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital. Experienced in treating all types of cancer, he has a particular interest in cancers of the lung and gastrointestinal system as well as blood cancers. He employs advanced diagnostic techniques combined with a multidisciplinary approach in developing treatment plans and strongly believes that the best outcomes are achieved by partnering with patients and their families.    

Dr. Bekkerman is a fellow of both the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology. In addition, he has been published in multiple peer-reviewed publications and presented at numerous medical meetings. He earned his medical degree at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Greenburg, Pennsylvania, followed by a residency in internal medicine at St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers, New York, and a fellowship in hematology/oncology, at St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor, in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
