As a board-certified transplant surgeon, Dr. Hawksworth specializes in liver transplants and small bowel/intestinal transplants at MedStar Georgetown’s Transplant Institute and the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Recognized for his research, Dr. Hawksworth is widely published and presents his work across the country on both transplant and combat-related topics. He also follows his research interests through work in clinical trials that focus on liver and intestine transplants in infants and children with intestinal failure. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Dr. Hawkworth is also active duty military, serving two combat deployments in Afghanistan on a Forward Surgical Team.
