Norman J. Beauchamp Jr., MD, MHS, serves as executive vice president for health sciences at Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC) and executive dean of Georgetown University School of Medicine. He is also a tenured faculty member in the Department of Neurology, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Radiology at Georgetown University Medical Center.
Beauchamp is a leading researcher in the diagnosis and treatment of stroke and an experienced academic leader. From 2019 until he joined Georgetown in 2024, he served as the Executive Vice President for Health Sciences at Michigan State University (MSU). At MSU, he was responsible for important moments of growth and transformation, both in his role as executive vice president and prior to that as MSU’s inaugural Associate Provost and Assistant Vice President for Health Affairs and dean of the MSU College of Human Medicine.
He joined MSU in 2016 after 14 years as professor and chair of the Department of Radiology at the University of Washington (UW), where he also served as president of their Physicians Practice, as chair and vice chair of the Faculty Senate, as a co-founder of the UW School of Medicine’s Wellness Committee, and as the founding medical director of the Seattle/King County Clinic, an annual volunteer clinic that provides free medical, dental, and vision care to thousands of local residents.
