About me
Mrinalini Krishnan, MD is a cardiologist specializing in advanced heart failure with the MedStar Heart & Vascular Institute, who practices at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and MedStar Union Memorial Hospital. She is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, echocardiography and advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology.
Dr. Krishnan cares for patients diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension as well as patients with cardiomyopathies and advanced heart failure who require intravenous infusions, left ventricular assist devices (LVADs), and heart transplantation. She encorporates state-of-the-art medications and technologies along with a collaborative multi-disciplinary approach to provide the optimal care for her patients long-term.
Dr. Krishnan is the Regional Director of Pulmonary Hypertension at MedStar. She serves as the Associate Program Director for the Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology fellowship program and is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Georgetown University. She is a member of the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation and the Heart Failure Society of America, and is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Additionally, she is a reviewer for the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, the European Society of Cardiology Journal, and the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation.
Delivering continuity in care is a key priority for Dr. Krishnan, as she is treating patients whose needs range from routine to emergency, and in some cases, transplant care. She values the opportunities she has to get to know her patients and their families on a personal level, and always strives to help patients fully understand the intricacies of their medical conditions and actively participate in their care plan.
